CIOReview | | 9 JUNE 2023people you have and their devices connected, the harder it is to provide good wireless service to them. For instance, when we go to a concert, a football or baseball stadium, there are a hundred thousand people present and majority of those people have at least one gadget with them that they want to connect. Some people can even have two or three different devices that need to connect. But the way wireless technology operates, it is not possible to connect all of them at the same time. So building solutions that either can take advantage of intermittent wireless service or building locations that can support more users, more devices is a challenge. However to solve this challenge a variety of different techniques have been developed over time for how to do that. For example, having lots of wifi routers that overlap. So given that we can have more people in that space and everyone have separate devices, people can connect their devices to different bands present to get better connectivity. But the more people, the smaller the space the harder it is to do that. On the other hand, designing solutions, applications, or devices that can be linked and disconnected sporadically is another option to handle the wireless dilemma. We can design our app so that it connects when it can and when it isn't able to connect, can still be used. For example Google Map. Google Maps allows to download the map and directions before you ever leave on a road trip. This means even if we are going through places that does not have connectivity, it can still work, tell us when to turn and also display the map of the road ahead because that information was downloaded to our device before we left on our trip. What are some of your recent project initiatives? For our restaurants that are inside mall or inside stadiums facing connectivity issue we have existing mobile apps and are working on updates those apps and making new apps for of them. With these mobile aaps what we are doing is downloading more information in the apps like the menu so that a person want look at that or place an order without having to worry about connectivity they can go ahead and do it.How do envision the future of the space?Moving ahead in the future we are going to have wireless connectivity to satellites where it doesn't exist today. For example Elon Musk has put satellites called starlink that can connect to phones on earth. So in general when people use their wireless devices, they're connecting to things that are on the planet not above the planet. However, with a lot of advancement that's gonna happen in the technology and the standards for wifi and wireless at the same time the demand force also going to keep increasing. People are inventing new apps and new technologies that people want to have access to which means more demand for wireless and wifi and so on.What would be your piece of advice for budding professionals in the field? We must make sure that the solutions we design aren't based on the ideal scenario where someone is at an office with plenty of wifi and not too many users, or in a store or restaurant with a small number of patrons, where the problem is kind of simple to fix. We need to think about architecting solution for cases that is more challenging. Too often, individuals test their products in settings where there aren't many problems and then are shocked when they discover that things don't perform as expected when there are actually more problems to be resolved.
