| | JULY 20166CIOReview"The more things change the more they stay the same." Somehow, sometimes, a series of groundbreaking events can cycle back to a state, eerily reminiscent of their beginning. This holds good atleast for the Networking Domain, which has seen immense technological advancements and yet professionals in this space are struggling to come close to the utopian concept of a simplified network. The focus of the networking sector has today shifted to software, coding, and open systems from the traditional hardware speeds and feeds. Big data, cloud, and larger than life datacenters have created a "cascade effect" resulting in increased efforts by organizations to recalibrate their network infrastructure. With talks amongst the tech circles revolving around SDN, Open Networking, and network automation, CIOs are migrating to 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard and transitioning to IPv6. However, for an efficient network, the mantra remains the same: "The less that goes wrong, the higher the network uptime." And this essentially means having fewer features that can be implemented whilst still achieving the business goal. Over the years, network professionals have engineered complexity into the network due to business requirements. The key though is to understand, "what problem are we really trying to solve here?"Change is hard. SMAC is here. And many CIOs do not know how to map the network they've got and what they require in the future. It takes design, collaboration, and understanding the predicament at hand. Networking terms that once were dictated by a combination of legacy hardware, today points to a network that is dynamic, transparent, and flexible. To simplify and help CIOs navigate the networking solutions landscape, CIOReview is coming up with annual special edition on Most Promising Networking Solution Providers.A distinguished panel comprising of CEOs, CIOs, VCs, analysts including CIO Review editorial board will decide the "20 Most Promising Networking Solution Providers 2016" in the U.S., listing the best vendors and consultants who provide key technology solutions and services related to Networking. "As simple as possible, as complex as required", that needs to be key in choosing network solution providers for modern CIOs.
