As technology invades every fraction of their life, students expect schools to provide the same type of tools they use at home and at play. With these digital learning tools, it becomes easier for them to learn the skills they will need to live and work in the future. However, "digitizing" the multiple channels of education is easier said than done. As the schools plan for change, they look at the issues surrounding one-to-one learning programs in order to provide access and equity to all students. This includes digital learning environments that are tailored to students' individual needs, skill levels and interests so that they have multiple pathways to learn. Some schools are also experimenting blended learning techniques that can help teachers personalize learning in a much easier and less time-consuming way. Many elements of today's digital education can help schools in unprecedented ways. With more states allowing students to take individual online courses from charter schools, multiple middle and high schools that lack advanced courses benefit in a big way. However, there is a catch: Digital learning implementation takes time, investment, effort and planning. No matter what piece of digital learning schools use, it will fail or succeed based on the how serious of a commitment administrators are willing to make. Also there should be an effort to help students use the new tools in thoughtful ways. On that note, we present you a special edition on technologies for the K-12. This edition blends expert opinions from thought leaders in the K-12 space with a listing of leading technology solution providers in the market. Hope this will help you while you make digital strategies for your institution.Jeevan GeorgeManaging Editoreditor@cioreview.comKyle SummersShashikant Peetla Sofia KentAaron PierceAlex D'Souza J.NagarjunaCopyright © 2015 CIOReview.
