Ranked as a leading cloud platform for both infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS), Microsoft Azure enables developers to use any language, framework or tool to build, deploy and manage applications.Azure is currently on a fast growth trajectory. Along with new Azure Virtual Machine (VM) extensions--that manage configurations and security extensions--Azure has introduced multiple new networking features. It currently provides support for multiple site-to-site connections to virtual networks, which is essential for organizations with several sites. Also, the platform now aims at providing identity management and access control capabilities through Azure Active Directory. It secures access to on-premises and cloud applications, including Microsoft online services like Office 365 and many non-Microsoft SaaS applications. Additionally, Azure's mobile engagement enables a real-time fine-grain user segmentation, app user analytics, and contextually aware smart push notifications and in-app messaging across all connected devices.Furthermore, with the enterprises' need for speed and the massively expanding Big Data requirements, Azure platform will likely play an expanding role in the development of new business models. Azure is very well positioned in this aspect with its ability to deliver the same platforms--server and SQL--across public, private, and on premise cloud, offering cost reduction and business agility. Azure's depth is now becoming an equally important consideration as the platform and market develop further. It is well-suited to an environment in which vendor solutions are growing diverse and client requirements are becoming more sophisticated, that is compelling many organizations to mix and match options for deployment, vendor sourcing, and architecture. Reducing the need for up-front technology purchases, Azure will support more programming languages and development environments in the near future. On that note, we present to you the special edition Azure Solutions Providers. We hope the companies featured in this edition will ease your transition to cloud while providing flexible and extremely cost-effective ways to launch business-driven innovative activities.
